Ranges assume standard tear-out and grading. Every yard gets a flat written price after we measure it.

What's Included in Our Price

  • Old turf and weed tear-out, hauled off your property
  • Grade and level so you don't get low spots holding water
  • Starter fertilizer worked into the soil before sod goes down
  • Sod cut fresh at the farm and laid tight — no gaps, staggered seams
  • Rolled and watered in on install day
  • A written watering schedule for the critical first 3 weeks

What Changes the Price

Tear-Out vs. Bare Dirt

Removing dead turf, weeds and roots is real labor. Bare, already-graded dirt can knock 15–25% off the install price.

Access to the Yard

If a skid steer and wheelbarrows can get to the backyard through a wide gate, it's cheaper. Hand-carrying pallets adds labor.

Grading & Fill Needed

Low spots, washouts and settled areas need fill dirt hauled in, which is priced separately by the yard.

Irrigation

New sod dies without water. If you don't have a working system, budget for repairs or plan on hose-and-sprinkler duty for 3 weeks.

Sod Cost FAQs

How much does sod cost per pallet in Jacksonville?

Installed, most Jacksonville sod runs $400–$650 per pallet depending on grass type and how much tear-out and grading is involved. A pallet covers roughly 400–500 sq ft.

How much to re-sod a whole yard?

A typical 5,000 sq ft front and back yard usually lands between $3,000 and $6,000 installed — old turf removal, grading, sod and first watering included.

Is it cheaper to seed instead of sod?

In Northeast Florida, not really. St. Augustine can't be grown from seed at all, and Bahia seed takes a full season plus constant weed control. Sod gives you a finished lawn the same day.

Which sod is best for Jacksonville?

Floratam St. Augustine for most sunny yards, Palmetto or Seville for shade under oaks, Zoysia when you want the premium look, and Bahia for big low-maintenance lots.

When is the best time to lay sod here?

Sod installs year-round in Jacksonville. Spring through early fall roots the fastest; winter installs work fine but root in slower, so watering discipline matters more.

How long until I can walk or mow on it?

Keep traffic light for two weeks. First mow is usually around day 14–21, once the sod resists a gentle tug and the roots have grabbed.

Do you offer financing or payment splits?

For larger installs we can split payment between a deposit at scheduling and the balance at completion. Ask when we quote.
